Roles and Responsibilities of the IT Cell:

  • Maintains the Siliguri Municipal Corporation (SMC) website 

  • Assists in maintaining online citizen services, including the Guest House Booking System and Online Property Tax Assessment platform which are thereby handled by the respective department.

  • Maintains and monitors network connectivity across the SMC Head Office, Borough Offices, and other administrative establishments to ensure uninterrupted operations.

  • Plans, installs, and coordinates network infrastructure for newly established administrative offices and borough offices.

  • Digitizes records and documents across departments and borough offices.

  • Supports the implementation of paperless office initiatives by streamlining digital workflows and document management systems.

  • Manages the Corporation's IT infrastructure, including data security, server maintenance, system backups, disaster recovery for the systems requisitioned for repair

  • Monitors the health and performance of IT systems and promptly resolves technical issues to minimize operational downtime.

  • Provides live streaming and technical support for official programmes, meetings, cultural events, and civic functions.

  • Records, edits, and publishes official event videos on YouTube, Facebook, and other digital platforms to enhance public outreach and transparency.

  • Facilitates virtual meetings and video conferencing with Government departments and internal administrative units.

  • Installs, configures, and operates projectors, audio-visual equipment, and other technical systems for physical, virtual, and hybrid meetings..

  • Diagnoses, repairs, upgrades, and configures desktop computers, laptops, printers, and other IT equipment across departments.

  • Procures, distributes, installs, and commissions IT hardware and peripherals for departments, schools, borough offices, and field establishments as per requisitions and proper approval.

  • Provides technical infrastructure and on-site IT support for public outreach programmes, awareness campaigns, training sessions.

  • Maintains proper updatiobs of Computer Systems thereby ensuring compliance with IT security standards.

  • Provides user support, troubleshooting, and technical assistance to employees, ensuring the efficient functioning of day-to-day digital operations with intra office email based initiatives
